Moving to a new city can be very intimidating. As a newcomer, you’re still trying to learn the area, and there’s a good chance that you still don’t know that many people. But, here at the Greater Peoria EDC, we’re working to change that.
On April 12, we hosted our first Newcomer Welcome Mixer for anyone who recently relocated to the Greater Peoria area, or anyone with an interest in learning about working and living in the area. This fun, casual event was held at Obed and Isaac’s where we provided light appetizers and 1 free drink ticket per guest.
Our main goal with this event was to help connect those newcomers to other people in the area who have recently relocated as well as to some of our First Friends. Our First Friends program pairs up newcomers with ambassadors of the area who know the ins and outs of the region.
After our first newcomer welcome mixer, we plan to host these mixers quarterly to really help strengthen those connections made at these events. If you’re new to the area, stay tuned for information on our next mixer. Additionally, if you’d like to be or receive a first friend, visit this link to sign up!
